Options was approached by Alisa Drinkwater of ZapMyTax, the property tax grievance company, about assisting a needy family.
“We wanted to contribute something to someone and really change and improve their situation—Zap Gives Back!” said Alisa.
With this in mind, Options Program Supervisor, Gail Rivera suggested a family that had been having an especially difficult time recently.
A close knit family, Mrs. Jones lives with her 19 year old son, 24 year old daughter, and young granddaughter. After years of dialysis, Mrs. Jones received a kidney donation from her daughter. Both mother and daughter spent the holidays recovering from the surgery. Sadly, however, the kidney transplant is failing. After several weeks in the hospital, Mrs. Jones is now home with her family and continues to receive medical care. Her son attends college locally and her daughter has one semester of college left, but is currently working full-time. Because she had a tuition balance that was unpaid, she was unable to register to finish her degree.
“I approached my supervisors with the idea of paying this brave young woman’s tuition and they immediately agreed” said Alisa. “It’s really a pleasure to help this family out.”
The tuition balance was just over $1,500 and was paid in full by ZapMyTax.
“Zap Gives Back cleared they way for this young woman to return to school. We are incredibly grateful for their thoughtful and generous support” said Gail Rivera, Progam Supervisor. |
