Community Service Options for Business Students

Medford, NYThis fall, Honors Ethics students at the College of Business at Stony Brook University had the opportunity to partner with an area not-for-profit agency to work on a community service project. In September, a group of four students began their project working with Options for Community Living Inc. Development Specialist, Denise Waterhouse.

The students were asked to connect with Long Island businesses that might be interested in participating in a cell phone and ink cartridge recycling program with proceeds to benefit Options. They developed a flyer, an extensive list of business contacts and utilized mail, email and telephone follow-up to connect with possible supporters.
The students also paid a visit to the Medford Community Residence where they had the opportunity to learn more about the agency and the program participants who might benefit from their efforts.
Participation in Options’ cell phone / ink cartridge recycling program is really simple and is ongoing.   To lend your support, visit www.fundingfactory.com and register your organization as a business supporter. Identify Options for Community Living, Inc.
