A section of backyard was tilled and volunteers spread weed cover and planted an organic garden for the family living in the home. Perennials and several flowering bushes were planted along the front and side of the house to add color and appeal.
“The family living in this home is excited to have these volunteers here to help them” said Aimee Piciullo, Options Case Manager. “Before long they will enjoy their own freshly grown herbs, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and strawberries. Options is thankful to Team TFCU and LIVE for this terrific effort. ”
Since 1993, Long Island Volunteer Enterprises (LIVE) has been the bridge between corporate volunteers and not-for-profit organizations. In the spring, LIVE receives requests from not-for-profits for volunteer projects and then solicits corporations to put together a team and adopt one of these projects.
TFCU has two more volunteer projects planned with Options for Community Living, Inc. “The support and enthusiasm of TFCU's staff for Options for Community Living is commendable. Assisting our local community is important to us at TFCU and our staff members enjoy volunteering their time to help our neighbors,” said Robert G. Allen, TFCU President/CEO.
