Options to develop new Supportive Housing Project

Suffolk County, NY--- This month, Options received notice of approval to expand supportive housing for adults recovering from mental illness. Funding is awarded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities Program. The award of $2.1 million will provide for acquisition and renovation of four homes in Suffolk County which will accommodate twelve adults.
Supportive housing is permanent, affordable housing linked to services. It provides low-income, disabled and formerly homeless people the help and support they need to stay housed and live more independent, healthy and fulfilling lives.  Supportive housing is the single most effective and cost-efficient way to promote self sufficiency and community living for adults with disabilities.

Options owns and operates over 100 scattered supportive housing units for homeless individuals and families in crisis. Residents receive support from Case Managers as they work towards improved health, social and financial stability, and greater independence.
